Two news items that don't really apply to me...

...but I still felt compelled to blog about...

Tests show that high fructose corn syrup contains mercury. "That's bull!" deny the HFCS makers,

"Our industry has used mercury-free versions of the two re-agents mentioned in the study, hydrochloric acid and caustic soda, for several years. These mercury-free re-agents perform important functions, including adjusting pH balances."

Yeah, because ingesting hydrochloric acid and caustic soda is any better?

***

And McDick's plans to open 1000 new stores in 2009. Gross!

I haven't knowingly eaten anything with HFCS in years and I think it's been about 7 years since I last ate McDicks...I last set foot in one exactly 3 years ago, but I didn't eat anything. It's not even about the lack of nutrition. It's the fact that there's so much better tasting junk food out there, why would anyone eat low quality crap? If I want ice cream, I get super premium with real cream. I get french fries in mom and pop diners. There is no need to eat mass produced chemical crap!
